Mate is like any infusion in that its flavor, aroma and color depend on the water used to make it. Water used to prepare mate tea should be pure, cool tap water. The quality of tap water varies greatly from region to region. If yours is highly chlorinated, it is best to use a filter. Don’t use mineral water, since the sodium, potassium and other mineral salts it contains make it hard and affect the quality of the infusion. For mate tea, water should be recently boiled and not over-boiled. Over-boiling the water eliminates the oxygen dissolved in it and affects the quality and natural benefits of the infusion.

» Preparing Instant Mate Tea
In its instant version, mate tea is ideal when prepared with hot milk. The result is a perfect drink for children that is very rich and 100% natural. Like mate tea in bags, instant mate tea is also delicious when prepared with water. Instant mate tea is very pure, so only a teaspoonful is necessary. Place the instant mate tea in a cup, add hot milk or water that has just been boiled, mix well and sweeten to taste.

» Preparing Mate Tea in Bags
Heat cool water to boiling, pour it over the bag of mate tea and let steep for five minutes. Add milk and water to taste.

» Iced Mate Tea
Iced mate tea is a delicious, very refreshing drink, especially our Mandarin Orange/Orange and Strawberry/Vanilla flavors. Prepare it the same as you prepare traditional mate tea, but let it steep longer for a stronger infusion. This way, it will keep its delicious flavor when you add abundant ice. Sweeten to taste.
